A tender, whole-head cabbage slow-cooked in a luxurious blend of garlic, parmesan cheese, and zesty lemon butter for a savory and comforting side dish.

- 1 medium head of green cabbage
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Remove outer leaves from the cabbage and trim the stem so the head sits flat.
- Cut a deep cross (X) into the top of the cabbage, slicing about halfway down.
- In a bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, and Parmesan cheese.
- Stir in the lemon juice, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
- Spread the butter mixture into the cross-cuts and rub the remainder over the outside of the cabbage.
- Place cabbage in the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
- Baste the cabbage with the accumulated juices from the pot before serving.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan.
