- 12 oz penne rigate
- 4 cups broccoli florets
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 minced garlic cloves
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1 tbsp lemon zest
- 1/2 cup chopped lemon juice
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh basil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Bring a pot of salted water to boil; add penne and cook 8‑10 mins, reserving 1 cup pasta water.
- Heat olive oil in skillet over medium; add garlic and pepper flakes, sauté 30 sec.
- Add broccoli, sauté 2 mins, add some pasta water to create steam.
- Drain pasta; return to pot, combine with skillet mix, lemon zest, juice, and Parmesan until glossy.
- Season with salt, pepper, and basil. Serve hot with extra cheese.
- Adjust consistency with reserved pasta water if needed.
